HOW TO MAKE ALICE’s FANCIFUL CARDS:
The front of these handmade cards is shorter than the back to create a beautiful contrast between the front and the inside of the card. To create an A5 size card, cut a piece of card 25.3cm x 10.5cm. Fold so that the front is 10.5 x 10.5cm.
Cut 2 sheets of Fanciful 6×6″ paper – one to fit the inside of your card, and the other to fit the front of your card.
The design on the front of each card is built around a circular focal point. Extending the embellishments over the right-hand edge of the front of the card softens the line between the 2 contrasting paper patterns, as well as giving you something to hold when opening the card.
The Fairy godmother card uses a circle, rose, and gold stars from the Fanciful Cardstock Diecut Ephemera. Foam adhesive was used to make the rose and stars stand out. A “celebrate” sentiment from the Chipboard Embellishments has been backed with 6×6″ Paper before being added. The card was then finished with several of the Fanciful Gemstones.
One of the things you’ll notice is how these cards have such different colour palettes. Before she started Alice had selected a few pieces she knew she wanted to use, like this mermaid, and then chose papers and embellishments that had similar tones.
The circular sentiment from the Chipboard Embellishments on this mermaid card is just so beautiful that it had to be the main focus of this card. The mermaid, seashells and seaweed are all found in the Cardstock Diecut Ephemera Set. The gemstones again added the perfect bit of shimmer to finish off this card.
Items in these projects: Fanciful 6×6″ Designer Paper Pad/ Cardstock Diecut Ephemera 128pk/ Chipboard Embellishments 2 sheets/ Gemstones 72pc.
